приятия вкладывают недостаточно средств в модернизацию своего оборудова-
ния, в систему газоочистки и водоотведения, восстановление почв. Делается
вывод о том, что запрещение применения на территории области высокоток-
сичных химических веществ, пестицидов, гербицидов и внедрение биологиче-
ских средств защиты растений, а также создание охраняемых природных терри-
торий также могут способствовать улучшению экологической обстановки в
Кемеровской области.
Today Kemerovo region is the most densely populated area in Western Siberia.
At the beginning of 2015 the population of the region was 2 724 990 people. The re-
gion is among the most urbanized regions of the Russian Federation. After some in-
vestigation the authors came to the conclusion that the population density of Keme-
rovo region is 29.5 people per 1 square km and percentage of urban population is
84.9%. There are 20 towns, 19 rural districts, 23 urban-type settlements and 167 vil-
lage councils. The largest cities are Novokuznetsk (563.5 thousand inhabitants) and
Kemerovo (521.2 thousand inhabitants). Such cities as Prokopyevsk, Belovo,
Leninsk-Kuznetsky, Kiselevsk and Mezhdurechensk have population of over 100
thousand people.
However, the population of Kuzbass decreased by 38145 people for the last 5
years [2].

The data presented in the table allow us to conclude that the population had the
dynamics of the reduction. Firstly, it is connected with high morbidity and mortality
of the working age population.
